Legendary Items in Baldur’s Gate 3 are perhaps the most powerful and important ones you can find. These items provide additional buffs and amazing stats and, best of all, possess great special effects. These items are represented by a Golden-Brown hue on their pictures in the item description menu.
However, due to their rarity, it is quite challenging to find them. Luckily, these legendary items are spread across multiple acts, making it a bit easier to collect them as you progress. We also have a guide on Baldur’s Gate 3 best loot items if you want something else, so you should also check that out.
Legendary Items can be acquired in all three acts as you make your way through the main quest. Most of these items either come as a part of major side quests or as their rewards. For your convenience, we have separated the items according to the acts.

Bg3 Legendary Items in Act 1
Out of 21, you can obtain only two legendary items during Act 1 of Baldur’s Gate 3.
- The Blood of the Lathander

The Blood of Lathander
The Blood of Lathander is one of the best Legendary Weapons you will acquire in the game. It is a Mace, and you will find it during the early stages of Act 1. You can obtain this mace by going to Rosymorn Monastery and completing the Ceremonial Weapons quest.
Head to the coordinates (X: 1069, Y: -781) and place the Dawnmaster’s Crest on the Crest Panel below the Creche Y’llek. This will reward you with the Blood of Lathander in the game. If you try to obtain this mace without Dawnmaster’s Crest, you will kill everyone.
Blood of Lathander does 4~9 bludgeoning damage and has the following skills.
- Lathander’s Blessing: When your HP reaches you, you gain 2~24HP once per long rest. Your allies within the 9m range also get 1~9HP.
- Lathander’s Light: Creates an illuminated area of a 6m radius. Fiends and Undead are blinded in this region unless they pass a CON saving throw.
- +3 Weapon Enchantment
- Sunbeam: This level 6 evocation spell deals 6~48 radiant damage to enemies.
- Concussive Smash: Deals 6~15 slashing + 1~4 psychic damage. It makes enemies dizzy for the next 2 turns.
- Backbreaker: Deals 5~8 slashing damage and knocks enemies prone for the next 2 turns.
Mask of the Shapeshifter
Mask of the Shapeshifter is a Legendary Helmet that becomes available if you purchase the deluxe edition of the game. You can visit the Emerald’s Grove campsite and obtain it from the traveler’s chest.
Mask of the Shapeshifter grants you the Disguise Self spell. This level 1 Illusion spell allows you to change your appearance to avoid detection.
Bg3 Legendary Items in Act 2
There are 3 legendary items that you can obtain during Act 2 of Baldur’s Gate 3.
- Devotee’s Mace
- Selune’s Spear of Night
- Shar’s Spear of Evening
Devotee’s Mace
Another legendary mace on our list, you can obtain it by reaching level 10 with any cleric. Once you reach this level, you gain access to the Divine Intervention class feature. Use Army Thy Servant command to obtain this weapon.
Devotee’s Mace does 4~9 bludgeoning + 1~8 radiant damage. It has the following weapon properties.
- +3 Weapon Enchantment
- Healing Incense Aura: Heals you and nearby allies for 1~4HP at the start of your turn. This effect lasts for 10 turns.
- Concussive Smash: Deals 6~15 slashing + 1~4 psychic damage. It makes enemies dizzy for the next 2 turns.
- Backbreaker: Deals 5~8 slashing damage and knocks enemies prone for the next 2 turns.
Selune’s Spear of Night
You will find this Legendary Spear during Shadowheart’s quest called ”The Chosen of Shar.” During this quest, you must save Nightsong and Isobel’s life. Doing so will reward you with Selune’s Spear of Night in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Selune’s Spear of Night is a versatile Legendary weapon in Baldur’s Gate 3. It deals 4~11 piercing damage and has the following weapon properties.
- Selune’s Blessing: Grants advantage on Wisdom Saving throws and Perception checks.
- Darkvision: You can see up to 12m in the dark.
- +3 Weapon Enchantment
- Moonbeam: This level 3 evocation spell deals 2~20 radiant damage to enemies. They still take half the damage upon successful saving throws.
- Moonmote: Creates an area of light within the 18m range. Enemies react to the area as difficult terrain and take 1~4 damage at the start of each turn.
- Rush Attack: Deals 5~8 piercing damage and makes enemies Off Balance for the next 2 turns.
- Maiming Strike: Maims the walking creatures for the next 2 turns.
Shar’s Spear of Evening
This Legendary Spear is found in the same location where you found Selune’s Spear of Night during Shadowheart’s quest in Baldur’s Gate 3. After finding Shar’s Spear of the Evening, bring it to the Shadowfell. However, instead of saving Nightsong’s life, you must let Shadowheart kill Nightsong and get rewarded with the Shar’s Spear of Evening.
Shar’s Spear of Evening does 4~11 piercing damage and has the following weapon properties.
- Shar’s Blessing: When lightly or heavily obscured, you gain an advantage on Saving Throws.
- +3 Weapon Enchantment
- Thrown and Versatile weapon
- Shar’s Darkness: This level 2 evocation spell creates a shroud that blinds creatures for the next 10 turns.
- Rush Attack: Deals 5~8 piercing damage and makes enemies Off Balance for the next 2 turns.
- Maiming Strike: Maims the walking creatures for the next 2 turns.
- Edge of Darkness: Creates a cloud of darkness for the next 3 turns when you attack an enemy.
Bg3 Legendary Items in Act 3
Act 3 is where the endgame and the real fun begins. Most of the legendary items, 16 of them, can be obtained during Act 3 of Baldur’s Gate 3.

Balduran’s Giantslayer
Balduran’s Giantslayer is a Legendary Greatsword you can acquire after defeating Ansur, the Dragon at the Wyrmway Rock Fortress (Dragon’s Sanctum). However, reaching him is not an easy task as it requires you to solve multiple puzzles.
After completing the puzzles, defeat Ansur and search the altarto get rewarded with the Balduran’s Giantslayer. It deals 5~15 slashing damage to enemies and has the following weapon properties.
- Giantslayer: On a successful hit, you get a double bonus from your STR modifier. You gain an advantage on Attack Rolls against Giant enemies.
- +3 Weapon Enchantment
- Giant Form: This class action turns you into a giant. You gain an additional 27HP and deal 1~6 more damage to the enemies. You also gain an advantage on STR saving throws and checks.
- Pommel Strike: Does 1~4 non-lethal bludgeoning damage to enemies and daze them for the next 2 turns.
- Lacerate: Does 6~15 slashing + 1~4 psychic damage to the enemies. It inflicts Bleed status on enemies for the next 2 turns.
- Cleave: Swing your weapon in an arc and deal half the damage up to 3 enemies.
- Topple the Big Folk: You deal additional damage equal to your proficiency bonus. Giant enemies take 2~12 more damage and fall prone for the next 2 turns.
Bloodthirst
Bloodthirst is a Legendary Dagger in Baldur’s Gate 3. You will find this Dagger at the same location where you found Crimson Mischief, at the Temple of Bhaal, during Get Orin’s Netherstone quest. Simply defeat her to collect this Legendary Item.
It deals 10~13 piercing damage and has the following weapon properties.
- Improved Critical: The requirement to deliver a critical strike is reduced by 1.
- +2 Weapon Enchantment
- True Strike: This divination cantrip grants you an advantage on your next Attack Roll.
- Exploit Weakness: When wielding this dagger in the main hand, creatures become vulnerable to piercing damage once you hit them.
- True Strike Riposte: On the offhand, if a creature misses an attack on you, you instantly gain True Strike cantrip.
- Increases Armor Class by 1.
- Piercing Strike: Does 8~11 piercing damage to enemies and inflict gaping wounds for the next 2 turns.
Crimson Mischief
Crimson Mischief is one of the legendary Shortswords in Baldur’s Gate 3. You will find this weapon at the Temple of Bhaal during the Get Orin’s Netherstone quest. This dungeon is located at the Undercity Ruins, and reaching there will be a bit challenging as you will have to make your way through the Lower City Sewers to reach the waypoint. After entering the temple, Kill Orin to acquire the Crimson Mischief.
It inflicts 8~13 piercing + 2 piercing + 1~4 necrotic + 1~4 conditional piercing damage to the enemies. Crimson Mischief has the following weapon properties.
- Prey Upon the Weak: If an enemy has 50% or lower HP, you inflict an additional 1~4 piercing damage to them.
- +2 Weapon Enchantment
- Redvein Savagery: While holding this shortsword in your main hand, the enemy takes an additional 7-piercing damage if you attack with an advantage.
- Crimson Weapon: Using this weapon offhand allows you to add your ability modifier.
- Finesse weapon
- Flourish: This bonus action allows you to throw your enemy off balance.
- Piercing Strike: Does 8~11 piercing damage to enemies and inflict gaping wounds for the next 2 turns.
Duellist’s Prerogative
Duellist’s Prerogative is a Legendary Rapier in Baldur’s Gate 3. To acquire this Legendary Item, head back to the Basilisk Gate and talk to Lora to start the “Save Vanra” quest in BG3. You must craft the Hag’s Bane by helping Mayrina at Old Barlow’s Place. After the crafting is completed, head over to the Blushing Mermaid and talk to Captain Grizzly. She disappears after you confront her.
Afterward, follow Auntie Ethel into her lair. She canbe found in her basem*nt, where you must throw the Hag’s Bane on her. Lastly, you must kill Auntie Ethel to receive the Duelist’s Prerogative.
Duellist’s Prerogative does 9~16 piercing + 2 piercing + 1~4 necrotic damage to the enemies. It has the following weapon properties.
- +3 Weapon Enchantment
- Elegant Duelist: Every hit with a 19-dice roll is critical if your offhand is empty. You also gain one additional reaction per turn.
- Withering Cut: You can use a reaction alongside a melee strike to deal additional necrotic damage equal to your proficiency bonus.
- Challenge to Duel: Allows you to inflict bleeding on the enemy for the next 3 turns by making them attack only you.
- Dueller’s Enthusiasm: While not dual-wielding, you can make an additional attack.
- Flourish: This bonus action allows you to throw your enemy off balance.
- Piercing Strike: Does 8~11 piercing damage to enemies and inflict gaping wounds for the next 2 turns.
- Weakening Strike: Inflicts non-lethal 5~8 slashing damage and weakens enemies’ grip.
Gloves of Soul Catching
Gloves of Soul Catching are Legendary Gloves in Baldur’s Gate 3. This item is availableat the House of Hope. You will acquire it as a part of the Escape the Deal quest. You must defeat Raphael while returning home after saving Hope from her Prison. However, you must find Helsik at the Devil’s Fee store to help you reach the location by solving Helsik’s ritual puzzle.
Gloves of Soul Catching grants you the following bonuses.
- +2 to Constitution (up to 20)
- Soul Fist: You deal an additional 1~10 force damage with unarmed strikes.
- Soul Catching: You regain 10HP with an unarmed strike, once per turn only. You can ignore healing to get an advantage on Attack Rolls and Saving Throws.
Gontr Mael
Gontr Mael is a legendary longbow in Baldur’s Gate 3. You will find this Legendary item at the Steel Watch Foundry during the Disable the Steel Watch quest. During this quest, you must find the Steel Watcher Titan boss in the basem*nt and defeat him to get rewarded with the Gontr Mael.
Gontr Mael inflicts 11~18 piercing damage and has the following weapon properties.
- Promised Victory: If you hit an enemy, it possibly inflicts a Guiding Bolt upon them.
- Gonter Mael Glowing: Illuminates the area of a 6m radius around you.
- +3 Weapon Enchantment
- Celestial Haste: Become faster and harder to hit for the next 10 turns.
- Brace: This class action allows you to sacrifice 6m of your movement speed. You get to roll twice for damage and select the highest value.
- Hamstring Shot: Inflicts 3~8 piercing damage and reduces the movement speed of enemies by 50%.
- Bolt of Celestial Light: Inflicts 9~16 piercing +2 acid + 1~10 necrotic + 6 piercing + 1~8 radiant damage to enemies. It also frightens enemies for the next 2 turns.
Helldusk Armour
Helldusk Armour is a Legendary and one of the best Heavy Armors in Baldur’s Gate 3. You will find this Item at the House of Hope during the Escape the Deal quest. This will be one of the last side quests in the House of Hope. You must defeat Raphael to break the contract and get rewarded with the Helldusk Armour. You can teleport to the House of Hope by talking to Helsik at the Devil’s Fee store.
Helldusk Armor grants the following bonuses to its wearer.
- Helldusk Armour: You automatically become proficient with this armor.
- Infernal Retribution: Spellcasters receive burning for 3 turns if you succeed a spell saving throw.
- Prime Aegis of Fire: Grants resistance against fire and burning. You take 3 less damage from all kinds of attacks.
- Fly: This level 3 transmutation spell allows you to fly for the next 10 turns.
Helm of Balduran
Helm of Balduran is a Legendary Helmet that you will find at the Wrym Rock’s Fortress. It is found along with the Balduran’s Giantslayer after defeating Ansur at the Dragon’s Sanctum.
The Helm of Balduran has the following bonuses for its wearer.
- Balduran’s Vitality: You heal for 2HP at the start of every turn.
- Covert Critical: +1 bonus to Armor Class and Saving Throws.
- Stun Immunity: You can’t be stunned and become immune to critical hits.
Markoheshkir
Markoheshkir is a Legendary Staff in Baldur’s Gate 3. You will find his Staff at Ramazith’s Tower. However, reaching it can be a bit challenging. You must head over to Sorcerous Sundries. Although you can try getting it as a part of the Lorroakan quest, you can easily steal it.
Simply head inside the white portal to reach the Ramazith’s Tower. Drop to the lower level of the Tower and break the Arcane Barrier protecting the Staff and loot the Markoheshkir staff.
Markoheshkir deals 2~9 bludgeoning damage and has the following weapon properties.
- Arcane Enchantment: +1 bonus to Attack Rolls and Spell Save DC.
- Arcane Battery: The next spell doesn’t cost a spell slot.
- +2 Weapon Enchantment
- Versatile weapon
- Kereska’s Favour: This level 4 evocation spell imbues you with elemental energy.
- Topple: Inflicts 5~8 bludgeoning damage and makes enemies prone for 1 turn.
Nyrulna
Nyrulna is a Legendary Magical Tridentin Baldur’s Gate 3. To find it, head over to Rivington and find the genie known as Pickpocket Akabi. He is found at the Circus of the Last Days. Once you have found him, play the Spin the Wheel game. However, being a genie, Akabi is not playing fairly, as there is a glint in his beard that prevents you from hitting the Jackpot.
To win the game, you must use one of your team members to steal his Ring and ask for a re-spin. This will allow you to hit the Jackpot and be teleported to the jungle (X: -1552 Y: -1460). Head up the cliff and follow it to the north of the Jungle. Reach the far end of the area till you find a portal ahead. Jump onto the other side and find a chest near the Portal. Open the Chest to loot the Nyrulna.
Nyrulna deals 5~12 piercing + 1~6 thunder + 1~4 necrotic damage to the enemies and has the following weapon properties.
- Zephyr Connection: Nyrulna always returns to your hand when you throw it, and you can’t be forced to drop it. Deals 3~12 thunder damage via explosion when thrown.
- Veil of the Wind: +3m bonus to movement and jump. You gain immunity to fall damage.
- Nyrulna Glowing: Illuminates the area of 6m around you.
- +3 Weapon Enchantment
- Piercing Strike: Inflicts 8~11 piercing damage and gaping wounds on the enemies.
- Crippling Strike: maims the walking creatures.
- Zephyr Flash: Inflicts 6~48 thunder damage and bleeding on the enemies.
- Zephyr Break: Pushes back enemies and makes them off balance for the next 2 turns.
- Versatile and Thrown weapon.
Orphic Hammer
The Orphic Hammer is a Legendary Warhammer in Baldur’s Gate 3. You will find this Item during the “Save Hope” quest in Baldur’s Gate 3.
This weapon is insideRaphael’s Archive in the House of Hope in Avernus. However, acquiring it can be challenging as it requires finding the password for Raphael’s Room. Return to the Archive and provide the password to unlock the Orphic Hammer. You can also obtain it by making a deal with Raphael.
Orphic Hammer deals 5~14 bludgeoning damage and has the following weapon properties.
- Spell Resistance: Grants you an advantage on spell-saving throws.
- +3 Weapon Enchantment
- Unshackling Strike: Can free any creature from its magical shackles.
- Backbreaker: Inflicts 5~8 piercing damage and makes enemies prone for the next 2 turns.
- Concussive Smash: Inflicts 6~15 slashing + 1~4 psychic damage and makes enemies dizzy for the next 2 turns.
- Weakening Strike: Inflicts 5~8 non-lethal slashing damage. It makes enemies drop their weapons.
- Thrown and Versatile weapon.
Silver Sword of the Astral Plane
Silver Sword of the Astral Plane is a legendary longsword in Baldur’s Gate 3. This is the only weapon you can try to obtain during Act 1. It is wielded by Githyanki’s leader, Kith’rak Voss. You can use the Drop command on him during your first encounter on the Risen Road in Act 1. However, the chances for him to drop this weapon are very low.
To obtain this sword, proceed to Act 3 and reach Sharess Caress. Make a deal with Raphael to get the Orphic Hammer. Hand over the Hammer to Kith’rak Voss in exchange for this legendary sword.
Silver Sword of the Astral Plane deals 9~19 slashing damage and an additional 1~6 psychic damage when wielded by a Githyanki. It has the following weapon properties.
- Githborn Psionic Weapon: Deals an additional 1-6 psychic damage in the hands of a Githyanki warrior.
- +3 Weapon Enchantment
- Githborn Psionic Resistance: You gain an advantage on Intelligence, Charisma, and Wisdom saving throws (Githyanki only). You can’t be charmed and gain Resistance to Psychic damage.
- Pommel Strike: Does 1~4 non-lethal bludgeoning damage to enemies and daze them for the next 2 turns.
- Lacerate: Does 6~15 slashing + 1~4 psychic damage to the enemies. It inflicts Bleed status on enemies for the next 2 turns.
- Cleave: Swing your weapon in an arc and deal half the damage up to 3 enemies.
- Soulbreaker: Stuns the enemies for the next 2 turns.
The Annals of Karsus
The Annals of Karsus is a Legendary book on this list. The best way to findthis book was by defeating Lorroakan in Ramazith’s Tower. Simply use the Sorcerous Sundries portal to teleport to the Tower. Furthermore, reach the Karsus Vault to get rewarded with the Annals of Karsus.
This book provides you with Scroll of Dethrone, which grants you a level 5 necromancy spell, Dethrone. It inflicts 30~80 additional Necrotic damage upon enemies.
The Red Knight’s Final Stratagem
The Red Knight’s Final Stratagem is anotherLegendary Book found at the Ramazith’s Tower in Baldur’s Gate 3. Like other Legendary books in the Tower, you must talk to Helsik at the Sorcerous Sundries to access the Tower. Defeat Lorroakan and head over to the Sorcerous Vault. Continue forward and find the book inside a case.
However, we found this case locked and had to passa DC20 on the Sleight of Hand check.
It provides you with the Artistry of War scroll. Using this scroll, you can learn the Artistry of War level 5 evocation spell. It deals an additional 8~18 Force Damage per summon (6).
The Tharchiate Codex
The Tharchiate Codex is the last Legendary Book in Baldur’s Gate 3. You will find this book after defeating Lorroakan at the Ramazith’s Tower.
Simply head over to the Sorcerous Sundries and travel to the Tower. Afterward, defeat Lorroakan and drop down to unlock the Elminster Vault to get rewarded with the Tharchiate Codex.
This book allows you to fully read and translate the Necromancy of Thay. It also provides you with the Tharchiate Withering debuff. You can use it to reduce your Constitution. Also, if you remove this debuff, you will receive the Tharchiate Vigour, which is a permanent buff.
Viconia’s Walking Fortress
Viconia’s Walking Fortress is the only Legendary Shield in Baldur’s Gate 3. You will find this Item as a part of the Shadowheart’s quest in Act 3. Once at Lower City, you must complete the Investigate the House of Grief objective during the Daughter of Darkness quest in BG3. Simply head inside the House and find Viconia DeVir. Defeat her to loot the Shield from her. If you let Viconia go, you won’t get this shield.
Using this shield grants you the following bonuses.
- +3 to Armor Class
- Rebuke of the Majesty: Upon getting hit with a melee attack, use your reaction to deal 2~8 force damage to the attacker. It also makes the enemy prone.
- Spellguard: Grants advantage on spell-saving throws.
- Reflective Shell: Reflects all projectiles towards the attacker.
- Warding Bond: This level 2 Abjuration spell grants an ally resistance to all kinds of damage. They also gain a +1 bonus to their Armor Class. However, you will receive the same amount of damage they do.
